The Mediterranean Biodiversity Consortium (MBC) is releasing an operational note based on the work of its Think & Do Tank, dedicated to this major challenge for protected area managers in the Mediterranean basin.<\/span><\/p>\n

\ud83e\udde0 The Think & Do Tank, driven by the MBC, is an informal platform for reflection and exchange that brings together members of the Consortium and its regional and national partners to:<\/span>
\n\u2705 Thinking about emerging concepts related to biodiversity preservation;<\/span>
\n\u2705 Build a common position on these issues ;<\/span>
\n\u2705 And above all, to help them become operational in the field.<\/span><\/p>\n

Within this framework, the T&DT has focused its work on adapting management to climate change, including the identification of courses of action to be implemented in the Mediterranean.<\/span><\/p>\n

\ud83d\udcd8 This note presents the main climate challenges, identifies three essential levers for action – knowledge, planning, governance – and proposes concrete recommendations for strengthening the resilience of Mediterranean protected sites.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2728 In collaboration with R\u00e9serves Naturelles de France (RNF), we’re taking the next step:<\/span>
\n\u27a1\ufe0f for the first time, the Natur’Adapt method will be tested in the Mediterranean, at one of the pilot sites of the RESCOM project.<\/span><\/p>\n

Developed by RNF, this method helps managers analyze the future, identify vulnerabilities and plan actions to adapt the management of natural areas.<\/span><\/p>\n

\ud83d\udd0d Why now?<\/span><\/strong>
\nBecause the Mediterranean is warming 20% faster than the global average, and the impacts – drought, erosion, hydrological disruption – are multiplying. Anticipating and adapting management is no longer an option: it’s a strategic necessity to protect our ecosystems and the communities that depend on them.<\/span><\/p>\n
