Established in May 2025 in the Rif region, located in the northwest of the country, the Park covers an area of 80,000 hectares, spread across three provinces and six rural communes. It stands out for its ecological diversity, combining agricultural lands, oak forests (including cork and zeen oaks), and highly valuable but still understudied wetlands.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">This territory is home to remarkable biodiversity, notably the Barbary macaque (Magot monkey), an endemic species threatened with extinction, as well as numerous mammals and reptiles. However, it is subject to many anthropogenic pressures: land clearing for cultivation, including livestock farming, poaching, water abstraction, and increasing impacts of climate change (droughts, fires).  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\"><b>A multi-ecosystem approach at the heart of the Western Rif<\/b> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">A team from AIFM and Tour du Valat, members of the Mediterranean Biodiversity Consortium, visited the site during the week of April 20 to identify the RESCOM project&#8217;s intervention priorities, in partnership with the Regional Directorate of the National Agency for Water and Forests of Tangier-T\u00e9touan-Al Hoce\u00efma (DRANEF-TTA), which manages the Park. This mission is part of a cooperation formalized by a memorandum of understanding signed in March 2026 between ANEF, AIFM, and Tour du Valat.  <\/span><\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-11352 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/www.medconsortium.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Parc-naturel-de-Bouhachem-4-Maroc-\u00a9-Tour-du-Valat-768x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"602\" height=\"803\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.medconsortium.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Parc-naturel-de-Bouhachem-4-Maroc-\u00a9-Tour-du-Valat-768x1024.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.medconsortium.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Parc-naturel-de-Bouhachem-4-Maroc-\u00a9-Tour-du-Valat-225x300.jpeg 225w, https:\/\/www.medconsortium.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/Parc-naturel-de-Bouhachem-4-Maroc-\u00a9-Tour-du-Valat.jpeg 1000w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 602px) 100vw, 602px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">The planned actions will aim to act simultaneously on forest ecosystems and wetlands and will notably include: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li aria-setsize=\"-1\" data-leveltext=\"\uf0b7\" data-font=\"Symbol\" data-listid=\"4\" data-list-defn-props=\"{\"335552541\":1,\"335559685\":720,\"335559991\":360,\"469769226\":\"Symbol\",\"469769242\":[8226],\"469777803\":\"left\",\"469777804\":\"\uf0b7\",\"469777815\":\"multilevel\"}\" data-aria-posinset=\"1\" data-aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">the participatory restoration of an approximately 20-hectare burnt forest plot, according to the international restoration standards of the <a href=\"https:\/\/ser-europe.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Society for Ecological Restoration Europe<\/a>.
