A consortium bringing together nature protection organisations for more effective and coordinated action to protect the Mediterranean biodiversity hotspot. We design and implement Nature-based Solutions across interconnected ecosystems through a multi-ecosystem approach. Together, we strengthen collaboration between science, policy and field practitioners to build long-term ecological and community resilience.

Shaping a shared vision

We are bringing our organisations together around a common strategy for Mediterranean resilience.

Designing at a multi-ecosystem scale

We are developing and testing integrated solutions while connecting science, policy and site managers across the Mediterranean.

Implementing on the ground

We are supporting concrete actions aimed at the conservation, restoration, and sustainable management of interconnected ecosystems, ranging from forests and wetlands to coastal and marine areas.

Scaling impact regionally

We are strengthening cooperation to replicate and mainstream successful solutions.

The importance of preserving and
restoring Mediterranean ecosystems

Through two short videos, discover the perspectives of the members of the Mediterranean Biodiversity Consortium on the importance of preserving and restoring the region’s terrestrial, coastal, and marine ecosystems—rich yet fragile, and too often managed in silos (sea, coasts, forests, small islands, and wetlands). They highlight the importance of an integrated and collaborative approach, engaging all stakeholders, to halt biodiversity loss and ensure sustainable living conditions for local communities.
