By working on sites that enable a multi-ecosystem approach, whose knowledge makes it possible to implement concrete actions with real impacts, involving institutional stakeholders and civil society, the Consortium aims to achieve a number of objectives:
- Strengthen awareness among Mediterranean territorial actors of the need for action.
- Support governance and management at local level.
- Enhancing the links between biodiversity, climate change, food security and human health.
To achieve these objectives, the Consortium is focusing on three complementary areas:
- Facilitating a community of practice through the creation of a dedicated Think and Do Tank.
- Supporting the practical implementation of conservation actions in the field.
- Strengthening the skills of stakeholders involved in ecosystem preservation.
Community of practice and advocacy
There are many concepts in biodiversity conservation today. However, their translation into concrete action on the ground is still largely lacking. The Consortium brings together experts, practitioners, site managers, regional organizations and NGOs in a reflection and action group. – the Think & Do Tank – which has twofold mission equip actors méditerranéens for translate these concepts into solutions, and contribute to a plea for better ecosystem preservation.
Skills enhancement
The Consortium has no intention of substituting its experts for local players, intends promote exchange and sharing of experience in a spirit of learning and autonomy. The implementation of on-the-job training – ” learning by doing “and bilateral coachingor the development of training regional on themes of common interest will provide concrete support to local players.
Concrete action through a regional approach
By providing technical and financial support for the restoration of marine, coastal, and terrestrial ecosystems, the Consortium promotes an integrated territorial approach to conservation that enhances ecological connectivity while balancing human activities and biodiversity protection. It supports the implementation of concrete field actions and the development of co-management and local governance systems, particularly through long-term support to pilot site managers ([learn more here]) and the establishment of a small grants scheme for local civil society organisations.
